Jermal Chandler

Jermal Chandler is Senior Instructor, Market Insights at Cboe Global Markets, Inc. (Cboe), based in Chicago. In this role, Chandler leads the development of market commentary about products, single stocks, sectors, indices, industry trends, transactions, and Cboe products and services. He has appeared on Wake Up With Cheddar, the TD Ameritrade Network, Business First AM and Yahoo Finance to discuss equity options, index options and volatility. Prior to joining Cboe’s Options Institute in 2018, Chandler served as an investigator for the Cboe Futures Exchange (CFE) on Cboe’s Regulatory team. He conducted surveillance for the weekly SOQ process as it relates to the settlement of VIX futures. Additionally, Chandler monitored cross-market spoofing and front running surveillances on the CFE and Cboe (C1) exchanges. Chandler’s nearly 15-year career in trading began at Peak6 Capital Management, LLC, where he traded volatility stat-arb in several multi-million dollar portfolios as a trading associate and later as an options portfolio manager. Prior to the start of his trading career, Chandler had an extensive career as a materials engineer and chemist, during which he worked at the Applied Superconductivity Center and Forest Products Laboratory (US Forest Service) in Madison, Wisconsin and published five articles. In addition to his role at Cboe, Chandler also serves as an instructor with the Options Industry Council (OIC) and is active in the community. He sits on the board of Oak Park-based Wonder Works Children’s Museum, which provides a play-based learning environment with programming that employs the arts and sciences. He is also the co-founder of Illinois Drive Basketball, an amateur athletic union-certified (AAU) travel basketball team for 15- and 16-year-old boys. Chandler holds a Bachelor of Science from Clark Atlanta University and a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
