Optional Income In the current landscape of historically low-interest rates and low-yield bond markets, investors are  searching for alternative ways to generate income. The financial industry largely associates options with their risk management capabilities, but they can also prove useful in creating, enhancing and generating income for investors.  In part two of his series on options, Steven Sears of Barron’s illustrates how.

VIX FIX: Investment in Chief The U.S. Presidential Election is finally coming to an end, and as candidates sprint toward the finish line, the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX Index) has taken center stage.  The VIX Index steadily rose throughout the week from the 15 level to over 22 on Friday as the polls tighten and uncertainty over the outcome rises.    Friday was the ninth straight day the VIX Index has risen, the first time that’s happened since 2013.  This anxiety has prompted investors to look to VIX options and futures for protection.  No matter what the outcome of the U.S Election, investors should know that there’s a VIX for that.
