Divisions/Departments At CBOE

Each of our divisions play key roles in achieving our corporate goals and objectives. The below provides an overview of each division.


Systems (IT)

Our Systems (Information Technology) division provides the superior technology which plays a very crucial part in maintaining and building upon our competitive edge. CBOE has a dynamic, fast-paced environment that offers technical challenges like no other, measured in fractions of seconds and Terabytes. We design and support highly customized, state-of-the-art systems and adapt them quickly as the dynamics of the marketplace change. Our Systems Development and Systems Operations staff know the real meaning of terms like "mission critical" and "real-time". We seek experience in a wide range of technologies, and commonly seek skills in Java, Oracle, UNIX and Linux. Experience with trading industry system development or other large complex systems is a plus for our environment.




Regulatory Services

Investor confidence in the options marketplace is crucial. Staff in this division assists in maintaining marketplace integrity by enforcing Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), CFTC and CBOE rules by conducting investigations, financial examinations, and market surveillance regarding trading practices and ethical conduct. Teams in this area also provide support and customer service to our Trading Permit Holders. These areas typically seek candidates with experience in securities or commodities futures regulation or trading with working knowledge of securities and derivatives markets and the broader financial markets as a whole. Strong analytical skills, excellent organizational skills, outstanding customer service and strong writing and interpersonal communication skills are important for these areas, as well as solid PC skills and knowledge of spreadsheet analysis and databases. Undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Business, Finance or Economics are typically required. J.D.'s are also considered.




Business Development

This division develops and maintains customer relations, ensures orders are executed accurately, provides trading systems operations support, implements marketing and sales strategies to promote CBOE, CFE and CBSX products and services effectively. It includes a team that manages our award-winning website (CBOE.com) which has been named Forbes "Best of the Web" for 5 years running, as well as other related websites and marketing efforts. It also includes teams that develop and sustains client relationships, teams that compile, analyze and report business and market data and the educational team of CBOE, The Options Institute, which trains thousands of options users annually on how to manage risk in an increasingly complex marketplace through the use of effective options strategies. Candidates for positions in Business Development usually require experience in the financial or securities industry, knowledge of options trading and the options marketplace, sales or marketing experience, project management skills and strong presentation skills. Undergraduate degrees in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics or Math are typically required.




Finance and Administration

Departments within Finance and Administration provide specialized services for the organization as a whole in the areas of Accounting, Facilities, Human Resources, Market Data Services, Security and Safety and Telecommunications.




Corporate Planning and Development

The Corporate Planning and Development division includes Strategic Planning and Research/Product Development, key areas which support the development of corporate strategy and introduce innovative investment tools to the marketplace to attract business and broaden CBOE's appeal to an expanding universe of customers. CBOE adds hundreds of products annually, including options on equities, indexes, exchange-traded funds and others.




Legal

Our Legal division provides legal services for CBOE in various areas of securities law including enforcement and arbitration, patents, etc.




Executive

This Division includes the Office of the Chairman, Corporate Communications, Registration Services and Civic & Government Affairs. The Corporate Communications Department is responsible for our branding initiatives, acts as CBOE's liaison with the news media, writes press releases, handles press conferences, and produces the Annual Report, as well as other corporate communications related activities. The Civic & Government Affairs Department is responsible for various legislative and Political Action Committee activities.

We understand that planning for your future is important. We offer a 401(k) retirement plan that we call the SMART Plan, which allows you to contribute up to 13% on a pre-tax basis. After one year of tenure, CBOE provides a generous $2 for $1 company match on the first 4% of your contributions.


Transportation Program

Our Transportation Program provides the option to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for commuting expenses to and from work via public transit such as Metra, PACE or CTA.


Time Away From Work

At CBOE, we offer a competitive vacation and holiday schedule which includes two weeks paid vacation, nine holidays, and seven Personal Leave Days, which can be used to accommodate illness or personal business.

Learning and Career Development

  • Our Tuition Assistance Program offers reimbursement which can cover up to 75% of tuition for eligible, job-related courses and programs at the undergraduate or graduate level and certain job-related professional certifications.
  • CBOE employees can take advantage of options courses and programs online and in the classroom, led by experienced instructors in the Options Institute, who offer training to investors worldwide.

How Will I Know If I Am Selected For Further Consideration?

A CBOE recruiter will review your resume and match your qualifications and experience as it relates to the position. The CBOE recruiter will select candidates for additional consideration. A CBOE recruiter may contact you via email or phone to find out more about your background. Following that communication, your information may be reviewed and considered further for an onsite or phone interview with the hiring team.


Hiring Team Interviews

Selected candidates will typically have several interviews. Some interviews may occur via phone. The recruiter, hiring manager(s) and other members of the hiring department team typically conduct the interviews. The decision is reached by considering input from all members of the hiring team.
