Extended Trading Hours (ETH)

Investors from around the world have suggested that CBOE Holdings explore the possibility of offering Extended Trading Hours (ETH) on key popular index futures and options contracts.

VIX FUTURES. In 2010 CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE) began offering futures on the CBOE Volatility Index® (VIX®) during select limited Extended Trading Hours. Beginning on June 22, 2014, VIX futures trading hours were expanded to nearly 24 hours a day, five days a week.

SPX AND VIX OPTIONS. CBOE plans to launch Extended Trading Hours for options on both the S&P 500 and the VIX indexes on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, contingent upon completion of systems enhancements and SEC approval.
