General Instructions:
1. Enter the stock or index symbol
2. Select "All exchange option quotes (if multiply listed)" if desired (if you do not,
default delayed quotes are disseminated from CBOE; if the option in question is
not traded at CBOE, all exchange delayed quotes will be displayed)
3. Select one of the three search criteria:
- "List near term at-the-money options & Weeklys if avail."
- "List all options, LEAPS, Credit Options & Weeklys if avail."
4. Click "Submit"
Option Chain Search Criteria:
Q: What is the check box preceding "All exchange option quotes (if multiply listed)"
for?
A: When this box is checked and a symbol is entered, the
search result will display the delayed quotes on all exchanges if the option is
multiply listed.
Q: What does "List near term at-the-money options & Weeklys if avail." mean?
A: When a stock or index symbol is entered and this search option
is selected, the search result will display delayed quotes for the nearest two months
(if available), representing a list of strike prices greater than and less than
the delayed stock quote.
Q: What does "List all options, LEAPS, Credit Options & Weeklys if avail." mean?
A: When a stock or index symbol is entered and this search option
is selected, the search result will display delayed quotes for all months.
Q: What does "Download text file" mean?
A: "Download text file" means you can download the complete option chain
to your hard drive in .dat format, which converts into a spreadsheet program. Conversion
instructions are displayed on the download page.
Option Chain Table Data:
Q: What does the letter following the hyphen (if present) at the end of an option or LEAPS
series indicate?
A: This letter (if present) indicates which exchange(s) the option trades
at, whereby:
No hyphen or letter present = Composite
A = AMEX American Stock Exchange
B = BOX Boston Stock Exchange - Options
E = CBOE Chicago Board Options Exchange
I = BATS
O = NASDAQ
P = NYSE Arca
X = PHLX Philadelphia Stock Exchange
8 = ISE International Securities Exchange
Q: What does "Last Sale" mean?
A: "Last Sale" stands for an option's Last Reported Sales Price. In the event
the "Net" column displays "pc", the "Last Sale" column displays the last reported
sales price from a previous business day. In the event the "Net" column displays
an up or down point movement, the "Last Sale" column displays the last reported
sales price from the current business day. All of the above information is reported
on a delayed basis.
Q: What does "Net" mean?
A. "Net" stands for an option's Net Point Change.
In the event the "Net" column displays "pc", no last sale price has yet been reported
for the current business day. In the event the "Net" column displays an up or down
point movement, the point change reflects the difference from the current business
day's last reported sales price, and a previous business day's last reported sales
price. All of the above information is reported on a delayed basis.
Q: What does "Vol" mean?
A: "Vol" stands for Volume. The "Vol" column displays the volume (in option
contracts) that has traded for the current day on a delayed basis.
Please note that the "Vol" identifier that appears above the option table reflects
the volume for the underlying product.
Q: What does "Open Int" mean?
A: "Open Int" stands for Open Interest. The "Open Int" column displays the
open interest, based upon opening and closing transaction data and exercise notices
tendered from the previous day.
