Ed Tilly on Cboe's Milestone Anniversary

Ed Tilly, Chairman and CEO, reflects on Cboe's accomplishments and growth in the last 50 years and celebrates where the company is today, what's next and the people who make it all possible.

Today is a momentous day at Cboe as we celebrate our 50^th anniversary. It not only marks 50 years of trust, innovation and growth, but it also signifies the beginning of our next chapter. Cboe has a storied history, one that began with the creation of an entirely new asset class, brought to life by a group of bold and innovative problem-solvers who weren’t afraid to take some risks. Today we’re celebrating the people who have built this company over the last half century and the milestones that have shaped Cboe. 

Cboe is known for the creation of options and often recognized for the VIX Index, as well as the subsequent suite of tradable products. We’re the home of SPX options and the place where people can trade same day options. We brought hybrid trading to the trading floor while supporting a thriving open outcry market. Our markets run on best-in-class technology and our Data and Access Solutions keep people informed in real time. 

We could not be prouder of how these innovative solutions have helped shape the industry, however, we’ve evolved beyond what we’ve long been known for. Today, Cboe provides trading solutions and products in multiple asset classes, including equities, derivatives, FX, and digital assets, across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. We’re bringing our expertise to new geographies around the world, delivering proven solutions where they are needed most. We have been working toward this vision for many years and it is exciting to see it begin to take off now. 

None of this would be possible without an incredible team of people at the helm.  Cboe has valued out-of-the-box thinkers, doers and problem solvers since our founding in 1973, and that remains true today. Equally important as the people building trusted markets are the people who use them. We are incredibly grateful to you, our customers, who bring liquidity to our markets, leverage our data and execution platforms and collaborate with us to bring new ideas to life.
