August was a strong month for Cboe’s Global Derivatives business with an Average Daily Volume (ADV) of 4.63 million S&P 500® Index Options (SPX®) contracts traded and a record ADV of 241,000 Mini-S&P 500® Index Options (XSP®) contracts. Global Trading Hours (GTH) continued the strong momentum with August marking the third best month for U.S. options contracts traded.
U.S. Options
- August 4 was the third best day for SPX options with 7.41 million contracts traded.
- XSP set a monthly ADV record of 241,000 contracts, eclipsing the previous record set in July 2026.
- XSP had record ADV during curb trading hours with 1,321 contracts traded.
Global Trading Hours
- August was a strong month for Global Trading Hours (GTH) with an ADV of 197,200 contracts.
- XSP GTH volume had its second-best month with an ADV of 22,200 contracts.
- Notably, three of the top 10 days for XSP GTH occurred in August.
U.S. Futures
- Cboe iBoxx® iShares® Corporate Bond Index Futures (IBHY) had its third best month of notional volume traded at $5.4 billion and its fourth best month for Average Daily Notional Volume (ADNV) at $258 million.
- On August 24, Cboe® iBoxx® iShares® $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond Index Futures (IBIG) had its third best volume day with 7,954 contracts or $1.15 billion notional volume traded.
